Thistle Finch Distilling is looking to expand our team with the addition of a part time distiller.  As a small craft distillery, Thistle Finch balances time-tested traditions with innovation and creativity to produce fine hand-crafted spirits.  We are looking for a person who will work under our Head Distiller and with other staff on various tasks including, but not limited to mashing, fermentation, distillation operations, filtration, cleaning, bottling and barrel filling. A background in distillation and/or brewing on any scale is big plus but not mandatory. On the job training will be provided.

Candidate must commit to a paid trial period of no less than 2 weeks and expect an extensive performance review after 4 months. Ideal candidate will be interested in learning all aspects of production, mechanically inclined, able to think critically and work independently. Must already live or be willing to re-locate to Lancaster Pennsylvania. 

Cook/execute an existing whiskey mash recipe/process three times a week
Fill, start and monitor running stills
Cleaning/sanitizing tanks
Maintain required production records
Contimusouly clean distillery production area

Assist with the filling of barrels
Assist with filerting and proofing of spirits
Assist with labels and bottling products
Provide facility tours to guest and visitors

Enthusiasm and a good team player
Respond positively to change
Mechanically inclined (if you cant change a flat tire this is NOT the job for you / if you do all your own plumbing work it MIGHT be the job for you)
Able to retain and process large amounts of information
Ability to manage mumtiple processes simaltaneously 

Basic Computer skills
Excellent communication skills
Must be in capable physical condition
Must be able to stand for long periods of time; sitting, standing, walking, stair climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs. are all required
Must be flexible and able to adjust to a changing environment
Must be over 21 years of age

The position will be for 20-25 hours/week to start, with a strong posability of increasing to full time later in the year. This position may be supplemented with some hours in our tasting room (ie. bar back and/or bartending/tour guiding). Shedule/hours are somewhat flexiable but does require working on 4 days out of 7.
